A Relaxing Day in Yes Bay. Yes!
We prepped the tender and got it launched. I understand the East German judge only gave us a 6 for grace, but we did get it in the water, and no one got wet. Success! We are prepping for some shoreside fun and fishing. Come on Bill, we need more salmon for dinner!
While the rest of us were fumbling with the tender, Karen made breakfast. We were treated to French toast this morning and what a treat it was. Yummy!
With breakfast digesting, Bill and I took off in the dink to explore the shore and woodlands. As I'm the slower of the two of us, I was designated the sacrificial bear meal/decoy should that be necessary. Some of you will be glad to know that we did not encounter any bear. Othes may not be so glad...
We did see some well used game trails and signs of large animals. The forests are not overly dense and comprised of fir, cypress, spruce, and other pine-type trees. They are also heavily mossed, everywhere. Moss covers the steep forest floor in most places and makes for very quiet, soft, and good footing. Good for the bears, not so for their potential human food (aka me). Bill & I bushwacked our way up to a small pond at the top of the ridge and decided that further exploration would be for another day as we were really not properly equipped for this kind of terrain.
The forest was wonderfully silent except for the gentle sounds of water which was trickling down in many small streams and the raucous ravens.
In addition to being a great contractor and fisherman, Bill is apparently a Raven whisperer too. He and a local raven were "cawing" at each other for a while until the raven gave up and flew away. I guess he figured Bill wasn't his type.
We continued our exploration by tender and putted all around this lagoon and small islands. Bill noting potential fishing spots.
Back aboard Blue Redd for lunch.
Bill & Nicki took off for fishing from the tender with ambitions of serving up a nice fresh salmon dinner. Fingers-crossed.
What an underappreciated wonderful winery. You all should take note and sign-up for their wine club. I am not affiliated with them in any way other than I love their wines! Thank you, Peter Bargetto. Ciao, My Friend.
A lovely end to the day. Goodnight, all. From Yes Bay...
Sunshine! Finally! 🍷
ReplyDeleteYes! We’ve had a lovely 4 days of sunshine. It is supposed to be sunny tomorrow and then rain for the entire extended forecast. Gotta enjoy it while we’ve got it!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect day, followed by an amazing dinner. Wow!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know you’re all eating well. Don’t forget the citrus. I don’t want you to catch scurvy while you’re on your little trip! Love ya bro!!
