Old Friends in New Places
Today dawned like every other day up here, overcast, cold, foggy, & rainy. And then the rain stopped and the fog lifted.
The cold and overcast stayed.
I had a few morning meetings and then one of my childhood friends arrived and work was suspended for a bit. Kippy & Dean will be with us on the next leg of our southward journey ending in Ketchikan on 8/2.
It is supposed to be good luck to rub her nose and tell her she's a good dog.
Karen and I got the memo about the rainy weather and acquired some rain pants. I hope these work out as well as I think they will. I'm tired of being soaked from the waist down.
Back to the boat for chores, naps, and conversation wherein we fixed most of the world's problems. If only "they" would call us and ask us what to do...
Dinner was simple grilled filet mignons with salt & pepper, green beans, baked potatoes and salad paired with a 2019 Lone Eagle Cab Sauv. Very big bold CA Napa Cab.And frozen peanut M&M's for dessert.
And then the post-dinner strategy meeting to decide what to do tomorrow.
The plan is to visit the Mendenhall glacier in the morning and then either stay another night in Juneau or start our trek south and go to Taku Harbor, about 20 miles away.
Note the way-too-small bowl of frozen peanut M&Ms...

Looks great. How’s the ship?
ReplyDeleteSmooth sailing to you all.
I was showing this post to my co-workers and Lauri commented that the dog reminded her of the Hachiko Statue in the Shibuya Train Station. The dog use to go to the train station with his owner every morning and wait for him to return. The owner did not come home one day because he passed away :( but the dog continued to go to the train station every day for 9 years to wait for him. The community put a statue up in his honor. Enjoy your company - Love Joanne
ReplyDeleteThat is a great story. Thank you.
