We are currently in Port McNeill at the north end of Vancouver Island.
At this lovely port, we are repairing our propane system for the galley cooktop. A truly simple system that is totally baffling me.
A few days ago, everything had been working great and then we got almost no flame at the cooktop. I replaced the regulator, remote solenoid valve, check valve, tank, etc. No change. I even removed every non-essential component and went down to just the tank, regulator and cooktop. Still not working correctly!!! Muat be the regulator, but I replaced it already!
I have not replaced the supply line or the low-pressure line from the regulator to the cooktop. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow.
Anyway, Port McNeill is a nice little seaside community. The guy running the marina also runs the local auto parts store. His name is William Laplante. I can't give him enough high praise. I was lamenting my challenges this morning to him at the Marina office when he said, well let's go to the auto parts store, I've got all the propane fittings and supplies you'd need. So, he opened the auto parts store and got me the various fittings. He did this twice as I needed different fittings that I originally thought. William and his wife also own a local store in town selling natural products. Great entrepreneurial guy!
I hope we can get things fixed in the morning and get underway North again tomorrow.
It's an 84 mile run across Cape Caution up to Big Frypan Bay. Monday and Tuesday look like favorable conditions for this leg. Fingers crossed for a departure soon! 🤞.
