Replenishment
Today, we leisurely moved from Auke Bay to downtown Juneau. We called in and they put us at the Aurora Harbor. We only went all of 7 miles as the unlaiden swallow flies, but for us it was a 34-mile trip as we had to go around the island.
The channel is basically a mud flat and mostly dry at low tide. I probably could have made it through the channel, but something about discretion being the better part of common sense... I went around the long way.
I am a wimpy boater.
Lousy weather today; cold, foggy, overcast, rainy, windy, yuk.A quick run to Costco to resupply (sorry, no pictures). The Juneau Costco is the smallest of all Costco stores; it was still huge and looks just like any other Costco.
We got back to the boat, stored the items and went out to Salt in downtown Juneau for dinner, and a very nice dinner indeed.
Karen had the salmon, and I had the 1/2 rack of lamb. We paired that with a 2019 Virna Borgogno Barolo Cannubi. Last fall we drove right by their winery just outside of Alba. I guess I should have stopped in, but my travelling compatriots would likely have rebelled at that point.
Another quick trip to the local IGA to pick up the few groceries we couldn't get at Costco.
Uber back to the boat and we are ready for bed!
Good night!

One comment and one question:
ReplyDeleteTravel compatriots who object to stopping at every single winery one passes in Alba don’t “get” the whole point of traveling to the Piedmont area of Italy.
And … a European swallow or an African swallow?
Thanks for throwing us under the boat, Pete. Payback shortly. ;)
