Maintenance and Moonrise

Today was another maintenance day.

Sea strainers on the engine & generator were cleaned and the lazarette was de-carbon dusted.  My stern thruster throws a lot of carbon dust, and I have to clean that compartment out every week or so.   As you can imagine, everything turns black, if I don't keep it clean.

We gave Blue Redd a good soapy washdown on the outside too.

A visit to the local marine store to purchase a 1-day king salmon fishing permit for tomorrow.   Karen is sending Ross & me off to fish for dinner.   Our guide, Heather, assures us we will catch salmon.  We shall see what she can do with us newbies.

We then went to the shipping store to retrieve a bunch of packages we had shipped here.   I got engine filters, bilge cleaner, our stored US mail, and a pizza stone - thank you, Kippy for the kind gift.   Now we should be able to have pizza with crunchy crust.

Other than that, just a quiet day.

I would like to end with a note about Karen's Uncle Bobby, her Dad's brother.   Uncle Bobby (or Bob, as I knew him) passed away a few days ago.   Uncle Bob had a loving way about him and a wickedly quick earthy sense of humor.  We didn't see Bob or Aunt Sharon often, but I always looked forward to those times and I remember him quite fondly.   He was always kind and loving to Karen & me.  I still laugh just thinking about those times.   I'll miss you, Uncle Bob.

Ciao.
