What is a Restricted Restricted Area Area?

I have no idea what our military is doing, but they are pretty serious about their restricted area when the double up the name!   Orwell is probably laughing.   Is this like double secret probation only less forthcoming?

This notation on the chart and the real activity in that area altered today's plans.   See, I did not make that up!

Cassy (pictured) dropped by the boat at 0710 to drop off the goods; four plain cinnamon rolls and four walnut with extra cinnamon cinnamon rolls.   Still warm from the oven.

I can report that these cinnamon rolls are/were double plus good.   Just in case you thought only our government could doublespeak...

Meyers Chuck is just a cool spot, and one we highly recommended.   Watch out for the big underwater rock in the channel as you enter; it's closer to center channel than marked on the chart.

We departed just before 1000 (10:00am) and turned south in Clarence Strait towards Ketchikan.   In Clarence Strait we saw a single breaching humpback whale about 1/4 mile away.   It breached a few times and then disappeared.   It sure made a really big splash when it landed.

Before Ketchikan, we turned east in Behm Canal towards Loring and Marguerite Bay.

We were anticipating anchoring near Loring tonight, but due to the required diversion, we skipped Loring and continued up the Behm Canal to Marguerite Bay.   So, now we have an extra day to play somewhere between now and 8/20, when we have to be back in Ketchikan to drop Ross off at the airport.

Marguerite Bay is another bear viewing location.   We may take Roe over to the Forest Service dock and hike the 1.25 miles to the viewing area in the morning.   We will see what the weather is like in the morning and figure it out from there.

Ross decided to try fishing again.

Oohh, a seaplane just landed and took off from the Forest Service dock; probably a tour.

Here is tonight's sunset.

The cruising area we are entering is known as Misty Fjords which encircles Revillagigedo Island, the island that Ketchikan is on.   I guess the name Misty Fjords is appropriate as it is now misting.

Fingers crossed for dry and sunny weather tomorrow.

Good Night.
