It's been a friends kind of weekend. We started out last night visiting with Mike & Colleen (I can't believe I forgot to get a picture of us all together!!!). They are our former neighbors (because we moved away, not them). It was great to catch-up.
Then we were off to more former neighbors, Paul & Cheryl. What great people. It's been nearly a year since we'd seen each other last and it was instantaneously as if no time had passed. I've got to get one of Paul's hats (MAGA = "Morons Are Ruling America"). I love it! Cheryl is a superb chef and managed to wrangle up some Coconut Chicken Curry for dinner; it was great!
Tonight, we were treated to a visit from Bill & Nicki, more friends from Edmonds. We met Bill when we bought our Edmonds home, Bill came with it as the general contractor. Fortunately, he quickly introduced us to his wife, Nicki and that cemented our friendship. They are a hoot and always welcome in our home. We ended up sharing a nice Long Cellars 2021 Cab Franc Reserve (outstandingly great wine) aboard, then we headed off to dinner at a local Italian place, Nonna Luisa, in Anacortes. By far, it's the best Italian around. They make you feel like family, humor, abuse, and all, all in good form.
There, we shared a 2019 Prunotto Barolo Bussia (Old-World style, light, acidic, tar, and wonderful cherry & pomegranate fruit with layers of leather, sandalwood, and oaky tannins). That Paired well with Bill's Bistecca, Nicki's Risotto, Karen's Branzino, and my Fileto Di Manzo.
I'm drinking fewer wines this year, so I'm trying to make up for them in quality.
Hopefully, we will get a slot to haul the boat tomorrow so we can have our prop removed, the old one installed (pictured), the new one repaired, and then reinstalled. Then we will be on our way.
I'm guessing we will be outta here on Friday. Fingers are seriously crossed!
