Fog, Rain, & Waterfalls
I sure hope the Flat Earther's are wrong...
We were a jet today, clocking in at a top speed of 9.9 knots as we moseyed from Bottleneck Inlet to Lowe Inlet, some 75 miles to the north. I love current when it's pushing us, not so much when it's not.
We departed Bottleneck Inlet at 0830 in rain & fog.As is customary, Karen drives us out while I tend to stow the anchor and related gear. To be fair, she lets me drive into the anchorages.
Today's journey took us through the narrow waterfall strewn channels of Princess Royal, Whale, Wright Sound, and Grenville. Waterfalls galore! Here are a few, in the order we encountered them.
We passed a former cannery operation at Buttdale on Princess Royal Channel. Here is the old, dilapidated cannery. Supposedly, someone bought the place and has repaired the docks. Next must be the cannery building???
The fog really closed in this afternoon, good thing we are confident in our skills with radar and navigation systems
We are now anchored in 80' of water with 245' of chain out. It's currently high tide at +16.55'. I'm not a big fan of deep anchorages, but our usual spot in front of Verney Falls was taken by the only other boat in here. So, we went to the far side of the bay.
Pictured, above, is a one of a set of rocks that protrude out into the passage into the inner bay.
As we sit here, there is a river otter playing alongside the boat. I'll see if I can get a picture. I can't, but there was a river otter right there a second ago! I liked the picture anyway.
I heard a rumor that it's Mex night tonight. Yea for me!
Buenas Noches y Hasta Manana...
Beautiful waterfalls!
ReplyDeleteIndeed. We only took pictures of some, maybe 20% of them. There are just too many.
DeleteLove the waterfall pics! Hope Mex night was yummy. :)
ReplyDeleteMex night is always yummy!
DeleteAccording to the USGS Geographic Names Information System - Alaska has 43 officially named waterfalls. They also note - "there are many un-named waterfalls throughout the state". I think your photos proof that point! Like the photo with the fog surrounding the mountains.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you two are having fun. Can’t wait to hear all the stories when you get home
ReplyDeleteAlways happy to share!
