Chuck'n in Meyers Chuck

Last night in Meyers Chuck, a lovely, isolated community that harkens back to the hippy memes of the late 60's.   It's a beautiful small bay dotted with nice home to glorified shacks.   There are no services, no power, no water, etc. here.  Everyone makes their own.   The people here are super-nice and conversational.

We did not partake of Cassie's fresh baked and delivered directly from her oven to the boat Cinamon Rolls.   Not on my diet this year, but I was sorely tempted!!!

We departed Wrangell earlier in the day and headed down Zimovia Strait in postcard-perfect weather.  Note the tan/brown color of the water.   The tide was falling, so the immense amount of silt coming out of the Stikine River moves out into the bay off of Wrangell.

Breakfast while underway of day-old Banana Bread, courtesy of Master Baker, Nicki.   Thank you and you can come back anytime!!!

I almost got us into trouble when I misread the chart.  Fortunately, Admiral Karen asked "Where in the @##@&* are you going?"   Right.

We again spotted whales out in the channels, but no viable pictures to prove it.
We pulled into Meyers Chuck and tied up to their public dock.   As I mentioned, no services, but that didn't matter.
Here's a picture of the late afternoon bright orb, up in the sky.   Until Bill & Nicki showed up a week ago, we hadn't seen this unusual Alaskan phenomenon.
Dinner was delicious Italian sausage tortellini in a pomodoro sauce.  That paired with a salad and a 2020 Long Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon reserve.

Buona Notte...

  1. This may be a controversial opinion, but I always preferred banana bread, zucchini bread, and full butter pound cake, the day after baking. There’s something wonderful it happens, and the bread becomes more dense. Magic!

  2. Well, it was darn tasty right out of the oven and it's still tasty 2 days later! I'll take banana bread pretty much anyway I can get it!

  3. I ❤️ Meyer’s Chuck! Impressive restraint on the rolls. Still catching up on the week.
