Market Madness
Back in civilization. Too many people, too crowded, and too much noise. Well, we did go to the Granville Island Public Market; what did we expect??? More on this later...We started off the day rather leisurely in Gibsons Landing, about 20 miles north of Vancouver BC. We rolled out of bed, had a nice breakfast of poached eggs, bacon, English muffin (which is neither English nor a muffin). We got underway just after 1030 this morning.Captain Karen at the helm. She drove us off the dock. A first for her!Somewhere up this channel is Whistler.
There we are, in the center of the photo; all snug at the dock.
A shout out to the HarbourMaster, Nicole, for such excellent elocution that even I could clearly understand her over the VHF. That, I assure you is a genuine rarity. I swear most people mumble on the radio.
We strolled by this beautiful lily pond. No anaconda were seen here...

Mmmmm... We resisted temptation.
Back at the boat, we met new friends, Greg & Farah who have a blue-hulled Selene 55 named Summer Dreams, which they keep on the East Coast. They cruise the Bahamas and Caribbean. Maybe we will see them later this Fall as they head south!
We then hiked over the False Creek Bridge to downtown Vancouver for dinner at Chang'An.
A sea of boats at False Creek as viewed from the bridge. And Blue Redd smack in the middle of it all.
Then a stroll along the waterfront out to Sunset Park and Sunset Beach.
We came across a pick-up roller hockey game in the park. They kept hitting the "puck/ball" out and I kept retrieving it for them. Eventually we moved on, but not before the white-jerseyed team scored! We watched he golden sunset from the beach. It is a real sand/shell beach.
There are gardens and flowers everywhere along the path. Ross took most of these photos of the gardens.

Once the sunset was done, we headed back and across the Burrard Street bridge and ultimately back to the boat.

Ross leaves late tomorrow morning to fly home. We will miss him as he has been a nice addition to the boat's crew (or we have been an addition to his crew...).
Good Night All...
