Big Cedar

The coveted cover photo goes to Roberta, our friend on Happy Talk, that took this picture up near Turnbull Cove in the Broughton Islands.   We weren't there, unfortunately!

This picture is of Blind Channel Resort at low water.  Not much room there!

The boats along the dock there had to wait for the tide to come up a bit the then they filed out with the end boat leaving first, then the next, and the next.  A few of those came back in after the other boats had departed.
We hiked all of the trails on this map.   The photos, below, are from our hike.

This area has been logged as far back as 1882, and a few times since.  The Canadian Forest Service is experimenting with different management techniques.  The forest looks very healthy and is a nice mix of Douglass Fir, Hemlock, Cedar, and Poplar trees and assorted brush.

We didn't see any bears, but we think we saw black bear scat (not nearly as exciting).

At the Big Cedar...

Another Zen moment for you...

Late afternoon at Blind Channel Resort.   Blue Redd is in the middle of this picture and on the other side of the dock from the sailboat.

We dined ashore at the Cedar Inn, which specializes in German cuisine.  Ross had a blade roast (think of a braised beef stew), Karen had the lingcod, and I had the rack of lamb.  All very tasty!

  2. Love the bears - even it not your picture! The trail must have been very tranquil with the sounds of the "zen moment" water. Jo
