Prince Rupert is in the Can...
This is an autonomous boat. We saw it in Cow Bay in Prince Rupert. They use this autonomous boat in Cow Bay Marina for underwater inspections, maintenance, and safety checks, because this is a deep high tidal-current bay which makes it very dangerous for divers.
Cow Bay was so named after a Swiss farmer, John Nehring arrived with a herd of dairy cows in 1908. A great little coffee shop here is called Cowpuccino. I love it!We departed this morning from Kumealon Inlet in the semi-fog which turned into complete fog by the time we got to the mouth of the inlet (in the direction this picture is taken).
Some cool looking foggy photos of Kumealon Inlet as we departed about 0700.
Beautiful, even if we can't see where we are going!

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!
Well, it's closer to sunset...
The fog started to lift once we got well out into Grenville Channel and headed northwest towards Prince Rupert.
Visibility is improving! This is looking back down (southeast) Grenville Channel. Now with clear visibility, we are heading into Arthur Passage, just before Prince Rupert BC. The Skeena River empties into this passage and has dumped a lot of silt making the eastern portion nearly impassible for deep draft boats like ours due to serious shoaling.

The Skeena River is the homeland of the Tsimshian and Gitxsan First Nations people. It is the longest undammed river and their second longest river in Western Canada. It boasts world class trout, steelhead, and salmon fishing from the Headwaters 570 km upstream to here.
It is also home to the rare Kermode Bear (Spirit Bear) which is a unique genetically unique cream-white colored variant from a black bear.
Did I mention this river is loaded with salmon? Yumm! (Jerry, Bill, Ross... Just say'n...).We aren't the only boat out here!I'm not sleeping. I promise! Karen just took my picture while I was blinking. Really.
I'm in my zone. Ommmmm.
The approach as we near Prince Rupert. We pass the commercial docks and container port.

That's the Cosco Boston being unloaded or loaded - I can't tell which as no cranes were moving as we passed.
When we pulled in, we were right behind another Selene. A 2008 55 named Fine Balance. We'd met them at the Selene Rendezvous back in April. We look like mirror images of each other.
All tied up and nowhere to go... but then there is dinner...

Dinner was at one of our favorite local places, the restaurant at the Crest Hotel. The management and staff are all Indian and there were a few Indian dishes on the menu, so I figured they must be good. And the Spicy Butter Chicken was excellent!
Karen had the salmon special which, on the second try, (first try was over cooked for her liking) was also reportedly excellent.
Sunset isn't until 2205 (10:05 pm) with twilight ending at 2257 (10:57 pm) tonight. This puts it well past my bedtime. This may be the closest you get to a sunset photo tonight. FYI, sunrise twilight starts at 0421 and sunrise is 0514 tomorrow. Well before I plan to be awake!
This is a photo of a short-lived English Toffee Pudding. OMG, but it was good! Urp!
The view back towards the Harbourmaster's office at the Prince Rupert Rowing and Yacht Club. The Manager, Kevin, has got his young dock crew exceptionally well trained and super courteous. It is a delight to stay here. Over the years, Kevin has become a friend, and we look forward to catching up every time we pass through.
