Coolin our Heels in Meyers Chuck

A view across the dock from our slip in Bar Harbor South in Ketchikan this morning.   Note the little white SUV on the back of the fishing boat named, Good Partner.   Looks like one of those Isuzu Trackers or equivalents, not that it matters other than they are compact and relatively low mass.

We departed on time at 1100.  Just north of the boat marina is a float plane base.   I think float planes are really cool.
Across the channel (Tongass Narrows) is the airport.   This is a view of the dock where ferries and pleasure boats can pickup-and drop off people.  Some of you have had that experience.

While we were taking a picture of the airport dock, our friends Larry & Jamie were on the airport dock taking pictures of us!   Thanks guys!

How cool is that!

You can see the Taquan Air float plane base behind us.

At the north end of the Tongass Narrows and on the west side of the channel is this little island with a lighthouse on it.   It is hard to see it in this photo, but I assure you it is there.

Entering Meyers Chuck.   There are a lot of boats here today.   That is quiet unusual this early in the season.

Our friends Jenni & Jerry called us as we were approaching Meyers Chuck to let us know that they had some friends, Steve & Judy, there.   Steve & Judy then made room for us at the dock.  That is so nice of them.
And here are Steve and Judy aboard Blue Redd for some quality get-to-know each other time.

We went for a brief walk and took a few photos along the trail.

We ran into a local, Jeff, who was super friendly and conversational.   He spends his winters in the Florida Keys and mentioned that a number of other residents do similarly in winter.

Here is a photo of Velvet Moose (Selene 53) & Blue Redd (Selene 57) from the trees.
Whoa, Big spider art!   I almost crashed the trail there...
The Carver C40 is Steve & Judy's boat.

Again, no sunset photos tonight...
