Hanging out in Ketchikan
The local Tongass Marine store in Ketchikan. A remarkably well stocked marine & fishing store. I visit every marine store I can as I always am in need of something! Our intrepid author caught in the act of writing this morning's blog. Guilty as charged!
Then it was on to chores: shopping for marine parts, groceries, pharmaceuticals, etc. And then I had to install them (the parts, not the pharmaceuticals...)!
I replaced the "sight glass" in the raw water overboard discharge line so I could see when the holding tank was actually empty. Icky, but it turned out to be a fairly quick job.
Just some of our marina neighbors. This is a working marina, not a tourist/pleasure/foo-foo marina. Workboats outnumber us pleasure boaters probably 10:1.
Dinner at the Cape Fox Lodge with Jamie & Larry from Independence II. Remember, we met them in Shearwater last week. It is great to meet new people and make friends so quickly. These are good people and we enjoy their company.
Thoughtful conversations ruled the evening!
Later in the summer, this stream will be nearly choked with salmon returning to spawn in their redds and making for new generations of very tasty fish.

Note the "redds". Maybe has something to do with the name of our boat...
We hiked back to town from the Cape Fox Lodge in the pervasive rain. Then we waited to a cab to take us from the museum back to the marina.

A bit damper, but no worse for the wear.
Tomorrow is another day of boat chores. It is supposed to rain for the next few days. I expect to get a lot done!
