Preparing for Crossing Dixon Entrance

A Carnival cruise ship is in town.   This is a medium sized one at about 2,000 passengers.   That's still a lot of people for a town of 14,000 to accommodate all at once.

Here is a view from Blue Redd up the fairway to the restaurant where we will dine tonight, Breaker's Pub.

What a postcard day!   It's beautiful out.

After breakfast it was more chores around the boat.  Such as taking on water, cleaning, removing old junk, tidying up, battening things down, etc.
So, we went for a walk through town.  This photo is of the "Sunken Gardens" which are in a small former stone quarry that is in the middle of the old town area.   The flowers are just starting to bloom.

And look at that blue sky!
A couple of Selenes back-to-back in the marina.   The one with the pointy end towards us is Blue Redd.   The other one is a 55 named Fine Balance.
Dinner on the back deck of the Breakers Pub overlooking the marina.

Painfully slow service, but pretty decent food.  We shared a tossed salad, Manhattan clam chowder, ginger-beef stir-fry, and a NY cheesecake.   I paired that with a nice local IPA, very hoppy and good!
Again, we were visited by a raven.   I think this one has learned to scavenge leftovers from humans.

Regardless, we had a nice little conversation before the waitstaff scared him off.

Definitely, not a raven.  This guy was fishing, albeit unsuccessfully while we watched.

I feel sorry for the boat owner below.   Eagle doo is really large and nasty.

I couldn't decide which of these I liked better, so you get both...

Tomorrow, we cross Dixon Entrance, a 50-mile stretch open to the Gulf of Alaska between Prince Rupert and Ketchikan.  There is one anchorage we may stop in if conditions warrant, and that would be Foggy Bay, AK.   Regardless, we will roll-the-dice and see if US Customs will let us back into the USA.   We should cross the border about 1:00pm.   When we do, we immediately gain an hour as Alaska is 1 hour behind Pacific Time.

We depart at 0530 as it is 87 miles to Ketchikan - that makes for a long day!   The weather "forecast" calls for near perfect conditions.   I hope they are accurate!

Good Night...
