You know Juneau? (Say that out loud)...

The famous humpback whale sculpture in downtown Juneau.   This was designed and sculpted by R. T. Wallen out of bronze.   Erected in 2016.   It is a life-sized sculpture of a mid-sized female humpback named Tahku.   The real Tahku was shot and killed.   Why on earth would anyone shoot a whale?

Here is a link to a short video on it, if you are interested: July 2018 Drone Footage of The Whale Project (Whale Fountain) in Juneau, Alaska

Downtown Juneau.   In case you don't remember your state capitols, Juneau is the capitol of Alaska.  It is a relatively thriving city whose primary income is generated from government and tourism (cruise ships).

There were 5 behemoth cruise ships in port today.   Sometimes there are more.
We saw this display in a tourist trap shop.  It's not a real bear, and it is stuffed.   No one was eaten.
The Red Dog Saloon is Alaska's oldest man-made tourist attraction dating back to the gold rush days.   It is packed with gold rush memorabilia, including a gun that Wyatt Erp reportedly lost.   I guess they found it.
Susan is getting her totem on.  She will be our resident totem specialist just in time for them to depart.
Being in need of much luck, Susan rubs Patsy Ann's nose.   More information on Patsy Ann, below.

See, I don't make this stuff up!
Lunch at Devil's Club Brewing.   Their Signature IPA (69 IBUs) was excellent and appreciated by us all (except for Karen, who doesn't even like beer).  She gave a thumb's up to the sparkling lemonade.
Then we hiked out to visit Tahku, the whale sculpture located about 1/2 mile north of downtown along the waterfront.
If you zoom in, you can read a wee bit more about Tahku.
Dinner was at a downtown restaurant named Salt.   Salt is excellent and reportedly one of the best restaurants in Juneau.  I can personally attest to its greatness.   Simply wonderful food, ambiance, and service.

Our wait person, Gabby, took good care of us.

Some of our neighboring boats.   This is a working tug.  Pretty cool looking.
This is a "sunset" photo, but the sunset is being blocked out by the behemoth 298' yacht.   Interesting, we cannot see the name as it has been covered-up.  Interesting as the name of the boat is not allowed to be covered-up per Coast Guard rules...

Whatever she is called, she is big and fairly attractive looking.

Tomorrow we head to the museum and then the Alaskan Brewery for a tour and lunch, and a beer tasting.

Now, we go to bed.
