And the Fish are Safe...

Sunrise over Butedale this morning.

Bill on the foredeck as we head southeast in Princess Royal Channel, on the inside passage.

He was taking pictures of the many whales we saw breaching, tail slapping, fin slapping, and otherwise milling about doing whale things.

Breakfast underway.  Nicki's raspberry poppyseed scones.
Captain & Admirals in training, Bill & Nicki at the helm and on whatever was more exciting on Bill's phone.
Southbound in Graham Reach.   What a stunningly beautiful day.

Once we were past Hiekish Rapids at high slack, Bill tossed out some lines to tease the salmon.

We fished all the way into Bottleneck Inlet.   Then we dropped the dink & kayaks.

Bill & Nicki went fishing while Karen & I explored the bay by kayak.

We could only get so far up the river at the head of Bottleneck Inlet as a landslide blocked the river.  The downed trees act as a baleen filter blocking further progress upstream.   I could hear cascades, but I couldn't see them.

This is a photo of me taking a photo of Karen taking a photo of me...  at the landslide blockage.
Looking downstream from the landslide.
Look at the tiny miniature forest ecosystem on this stump out in the bay.  There were four of these.   Really cool.

Another boat arrives in our private anchorage!   This is an Offshore 55 or 54.   Very nice semi-displacement boat.  This is/was one of our dream boats when we were out looking.   We ended-up finding Blue Redd and have been really happy ever since.

That's dedication.

Our fisherpersons...

Home is the hunter, home from the seas.   Empty handed...

Unfortunately, no fish were harmed in today's adventures.

I'm "velveting" the meat...   Really, that's what they call it.   Seriously.

I'm massaging in the marinade of Dark Soy, Rice Vinegar, Vegetable Broth, Corn Starch, and Baking Soda.   Let that sit for an hour, pour off any excess liquid and use in your dish.

Karen was making ramen/Pho, so this was the protein component.  As she pointed out, I should have sliced the beef Tri Tip thinner before marinading it.
Regardless our meal was excellent!

Beef Pho, Fried Pork Dumplings in a spicy chili/mustard sauce, and a meh 2022 Okanogan Valley Cab Franc (Can't win 'em all).
Tonight's sunset looking back out the mouth of the inlet.

Tomorrow morning at 0930, we are off to Rescue Bay, 17 miles to the south.   We need to depart by no later than 0930 to catch favorable currents.   If we don't leave by 0930 it will be a long day as we will have to take a different route and go the long way around an island to get there.

Good Night, My Friends.
