Team Salmon 1, Team Blue Redd 0...

Bye Bye Bottleneck Inlet.   Bill & Nicki went out fishing this morning early before we left (obviously).

Returning to the mothership, with nothing to show for their fish teasing efforts.
The crew: Admiral Karen on the helm, Bill providing supervision, and Nicki our Master Baker, fresh from the galley where she was making cinnamon rolls.
And the sole surviving fruit of Nicki's considerable labors.   Cinnabon's got noth'n on this!
Heading south in Finlayson Channel.

We made the turn into Jackson Passage.  What a gorgeous narrow channel.

Yup, the Jackson Narrows in Jackson Passage.   The channel is barely wider than the boat, and even at that the channel showed only 12' deep at a +4' tide.   That means that this channel is only 8' deep at lower low water (low tide).   Still enough, but just barely!

Getting ready to navigate the tight part through Jackson Narrows.

We made it through!
We anchored in Rescue Bay, a lovely well-protected, large anchorage.

Given that we arrived at low tide, we immediately dropped the dink so Bill & Nicki could catch the freshly flooding tide.   A flood tide is when the fish are "supposed" to be biting....
Before they take off and fish, we cleaned the boat.   Bill does his Flying Wallendas act (OK, that reference dated me...) and climbs up on the pilothouse to wash the flybridge windows.
And they are almost off...
There they go.   We are hopeful for fish for dinner.
That teeny white spot in the middle of the photo is Bill & Nicki out in Roe securing our dinner.
Contributing nothing to the fishing adventures, Karen & I try our hand at SUP'ing.   Pumping the SUP to 12 PSI made a huge difference.
And no one went swimming!

I am amazed at how stable the SUP actually is.   Any instability is entirely due to the operator (me).   People keep telling me that I'm rather unstable...   I wasn't aware that many people had seen me SUP'ing...
A rockfish again.   Darn, we want salmon!
Striking the mermaid pose is Nicki.
Meanwhile, back aboard Blue Redd, Karen & Peter attempt to do some relaxing and reading.
Some new fishing neighbors arrived in our private bay.   I wonder if they caught anything...
Looking around Rescue Bay.

Dinner was baby back-ribs, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, and a tomato-cucumber-greens salad.

It was so hot out that Bill & I had Gin & Tonics, while the mermaids had a lovely 2021 Long Cellars Reserve Cab Sauv.
Sunset views around Rescue Bay.

To wrap-up the day, we have this shameful photobombing salmon...   Undaunted, Bill & Nicki will just have to come back next year and try their hands at salmon fishing again.   With various baked goods too!

Tomorrow, we head to Shearwater, about 33 miles to the south.   Rather than sneak around Milbanke Sound, we will take the inner route through Reid Passage.   This isn't due to adverse conditions, but rather the opposite - I want to map out a safe route through the narrow, shallow, twisty Reid Passage in good weather and broad daylight.

Good Night, Y'All.
