Of Lace and Storms...

You can likely guess why this is aptly named "Lacy Falls"; in Tribune Chanel, just north of Echo Bay.

We departed McIntosh Bay about noon, heading towards Waddington Bay.   Spoiler - we didn't make it...

Steep hill/mountainsides which are all prone to avalanches.

Glacier-sheared-off mountains reveal stunning cliffs along the confluence of Raliegh Passage and Tribune Channel.

We elected to take an out-of-the-way detour to Lacy Falls, near Kwatsi Bay.

Along Tribune Channel is Lacy Falls; and these photobombers were here!

This is a photo from our previous visit here in 2021.   Looks about the same!

Since we were already well out of our way, we decided to not go to Waddington Bay.  As lovely as it is, that would now be backtracking.  So, we elected to just go straight to Lagoon Cove.  This was not a clean simple decision as we had to debate options and timing.

The red areas to the left in this picture denote strong winds due to the approaching storm.   Red are high winds, green are moderate, and blue are really mild (we like blue).  These winds are moving inland from the south over the next few days.   They are supposed to peak Tuesday night.  So, Lagoon Cove today (the small white dot in the blue area) and then on to Forward Harbour tomorrow morning to get further east and well away from this storm.   We should be at Forward Harbour by 1300 (1:00pm), just before the storm hits.   Call me a wimp, but why suffer bad weather if we don't have too?

Interestingly enough, a storm like this is common in the late Fall and Winter.   Very uncommon at this time of year.  This weather pattern hints at an early, cold, stormy Winter.   Good thing we will be back in Florida!

A typical looking fish farm/fish pen operation near Lagoon Bay.

Proof, we were in Lagoon Cove.

The docks and float structures at Lagoon Cove are serviceable, but nothing fancy.   But that has nothing to do with why people come here.   The atmosphere is lovely, warm, welcoming, and very low-key.   It is a destination spot for many boaters.

Dan and Kelly's home.   They are the owners/caretakers of Lagoon Cove and the "Resort".

The Boatshed where "Appy Hour" is usually held.   We arrived too late and with insufficient notice.  For Appy Hour, Dan and Kelly make all the fresh prawns you can eat, and the boaters bring appetizers and whatever they want to drink.  A great time is guaranteed.   We have done this twice before and I can vouch for the totally delightful experience.

Dinner aboard Blue Redd in the cockpit.   Master Chefess, Karen, made Pho/ramen, and fried dumplings.  Peter added the dumpling dipping sauce (a firey blend of garlic/crushed red pepper paste, Chinese mustard, hot chili oil, rice vinegar, and soy.  Makes your lips all tingly!

Oh, and a 2022 Long Cellars Denner; a lovely Cab Franc led blend.
The view from the porch of the Boatshed looking out over the docks (and Blue Redd too).

And the obligatory sunset photo so you will know this edition of the blog is coming to an end.

Wish us lucky timing tomorrow.

Good Night, My Friends.
