An Evening with Friends in Port Townsend

Karen handles the docklines as we depart Victoria Harbour this morning.

Right behind us is this whale watching boat.   I'm sure they wanted us to go faster, but there is a 5mph speed limit in the harbour and that's all the faster I'm going to go.
Just as we round the bend, the Coho ferry (Port Angeles - Victoria) comes in.   We are all the way over to the side of the channel when we pass (fortunately at the widest part of the channel).

Usually, we would pass oncoming boats port-port (like oncoming cars pass left-left), but the way this channel works, that isn't feasible.

A nice marina of big luxury yachts.
Oh, and Victoria Harbour is an active seaplane base for Harbour Air too, so the channel doubles as their runway...

Lots of moving parts requiring a fair amount of attention.
This beautiful sailboat departed at the same time we did.  We will end up tied not far from them in Port Townsend later in the day.
The Victoria Clipper which runs daily between Seattle and Victoria goes zooming on by.

We are now in the middle of the Strait of Juan de Fuca between the US and Canada.

Yea, back in the USA.

Our government allowed us back in the country.   All very polite, quick, and easy.   Nothing like the negative stories I've heard.  At all border crossings this year, we have been well treated by all parties.   No complaints.
The sun finally breaks through the clouds, so we head up to the flybridge to drive from there.

The lighthouse at Point Wilson, just east of Port Townsend.   We picked up a nice favorable two and a half knot current through here that was pushing us at close to nine knots at times.

We had a lovely time aboard Blue Redd with Paul and Jenell, then we walked over to a nice little Indian place and continued our conversations over dinner.

Great company and OK food.   We were here for the company anyway!

No sunset photos tonight as it was already dark when we got out of the restaurant.

Good Night, My Friends.

  1. Can you believe they let a anti-MAGA-voting person back in? I guess all is not lost!
