New Territory
Departing Prince Rupert at 0820. More of that shiny orb thing today.We call these aircraft carriers. Logs with birds. This one is particularly popular with the fowl as there are usually only one or two birds atop them.
We do not want to hit one of these.
It may have been a waterfall, but it's dry at the moment.
More pictures from the southern end of Petrel Chanel and the "Narrows". There was a 2.4 knot current against us as we slowed from our target speed of about 7.8knots to 5.4knots. You can't see them well in this picture, but the white boat in front of us is Jean Marie, a Selene 47 owned by Pam & Rick (I blogged about them the night before). Anyway, they were heading to the same Newcombe Harbour as were we.
We rounded the last bend in the channel and headed into Newcombe Harbour for the evening.
Note the signs of clearcutting above. That was maybe 5-6 years ago.
